Welcome to the Krewe of Columbus
Website
The Krewe of Columbus is a
not-for-profit corporation chartered in 1959 to
promote and commemorate the achievements of
Christopher Columbus. The organization is an official
sponsor of Tampa's annual Columbus Day Commemoration.
The Queen Isabella Coronation is the organization's
annual event that selects, by lottery, the honorary
Queen Isabella that represents the Columbus
Celebration at civic and cultural events for a
twelve-month period.
Members of the Krewe
are all costumed in lavish authentic 15th Century
Renaissance attire that is representative of those worn at
the time of Columbus's voyages. A specially designed float
will serve as the stage of the parade unit.
Membership to the
Krewe is limited. Candidates for membership are men and
women, age 18 and older who have interest in the
organization's mission in the community. All candidates
will be subject to a criminal record background check.
